Did you change oil brands?

Looks like he reported going from Pennzoil to Mobil.

Both oil changes were done at an Infiniti dealer. On the first one, I watched them as they filled up the sample container. On the second one, I didn't see them take the sample. There was no evidence underneath (by the drainplug or the oil filter) of an oil change (eg. no oil drips or wiping). My filter looked new, but the oil had five miles on it when I checked the dipstick, and the oil had already lost the honey/clear color. Also, when I picked my car up (approximately 1-2 hours after the oil change), the oil sample (which was in the container, ziplocked, and in the outer container), was stone cold.

If you drove the car to the dealership for the oil change it should have been warm enough to drain well. They might not have let it drain for an extended period of time to get all the old oil out. After one or two hours the oil would have cooled down to ambient temp.

Yes....it was just a bunch of strange circumstances all at once. I still can't believe that the oil can be changed without any evidence of oil drips.

There should be a trace of it. Once they take the filter off, the excess oil from there drips down the side.

Absolutely....there should be a trace of an oil change. I would think that at least some oil has to drip down over the lip of the drain plug hole or from the filter area. There was no oil in either of those two places. Only the original layer of road dirt was there. There were no wipe marks either.

All the more reason to do your own changes! If you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

Yes. I wonder if the dealer even changed my oil.

This photo what it looked like right after I got it back from the dealer's "oil change."

Ok. So, after only 423 miles, I changed the oil myself.
This is what it looked like after I changed the oil.

And here is the Blackstone report subsequent to my oil change.

A couple of questions to ponder:
1) What's the deal with the high sodium? Does anyone else have this problem?
2) What the deal with the high lead?
