No rev-limiter on G35?

No rev-limiter on G35?
In addition to saying that we will burn out the ECU with
too many ECU resets, my service advisor told me that it is
a myth that the G35 has a rev limiter. He said when we go
past redline, there is a good possibility the engine will go
up in smoke. I don't know what to believe!
2003 Twilight Blue Sedan 5AT, sunroof, leather,
splashguards, GG red 7 wire Hypergrounding kit, 350Z intake duct(soon), K&N filter.

well, people have posted that it kicked on for them, so i would say he is wrong. Just fyi, my experience had been those advisors don't know anything. Guy at my dealership didn't even know the auto headlight sensitivity could be adjusted.
Consider this: if they really knew about the car they would be WORKING on them not sitting at a desk. Ask one of the senior technicians about it.

As I agree with your statment, I would say that your english teacher should get their *** fired for letting you post in this forum with those typos....
Back to the topic, I have hit the rev limiter a few too many times with no issue. I know what a rev limiter is, and what it feels and sounds like when I bounce off of it...

Re: No rev-limiter on G35?
hell i even hit 8000 a couple times when I was learning the gearbox for fast shifts (6-2 instead of 6-4th)
rev limiter definitely, also a very strong engine.
so what if you do all the maintenance to the car you are supposed to or lets say you replace electrical pieces (window switches, radio light fixtures ect) YOu are supposed to disconnect the battery every time. is that gonna kill your ecu?
Naw didn't think so

Re: No rev-limiter on G35?
Something to keep in mind--
Even though there is a rev limiter that will protect your engine from over-revving, it is still possible to over-rev the engine.
How? Simple- If you drive a manual tranny car and downshift into a lower gear to too high of a speed, you can MECHANICALLY over-rev your engine. The rev limiter will do nothing to prevent that.
This was a somewhat common occurance with the E36 M3..... a lot of guys would downshift into 3rd gear, (but mistakenly put it into 1st gear), let the clutch out and BAM...over-rev city! BTW, the 1st gear sychro in the M3 was incredibly strong, so it was fairly easy to put it into 1st gear at high speeds. On the G35, this would be harder to do, but it can still be done.
Point is, don't always count on an electronic rev limiter to save your engine.....

Re: No rev-limiter on G35?
Couldn't get the accelerator method to reset my ECU this time.
So, I did a ten minute reset. It seemed to work fine.
Disconnected the negative, pumped the accelerator about 10 times, pumped the brake pedal several times, reconnected the negative.
Lost the clock time and auto seat memory. Kept the radio stations settings. Gained engine/transmission performance like the previous 24 hour disconnects.
