Dealerships not knowing anything??

Has anyone noticed that infiniti dealships as well as the people that work in them know absolutely nothing about the cars that they sell. It seems to be a terrible buisness stratagey to hire people who dont know their *** from there elbow about wat they are selling. The 70+ hp chip? The ECU burn out from bat disconnect? Not knowing anything about NISMO or wat it even is? Not knowing about the breaks on the car? Im sorry it just seems like there should be an edjucation program for these people. Or they should just stick to the motto dont talk about what you dont know... Im not saying that car salemen should be gear heads like us, but they shouldnt spout off claims that are bogus. I wonder if they even drive infiniti's. The other day i went to the dealership to fix my breaks, and he said i needed knew rotors.. HE HAD NO IDEA that there were exsiting issues with the rotors on G35's... So i was like are you kidding me... Then a Service manager came in to help me- they tried to make it like im a young kid who damages my car... i was ticked off but none the less got 4 free rotors... im a happy kid

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

I think this varies widely from dealership to dealership. I've never walked in to mine without getting an answer that fully satisfied me. The salesmen know every inch of their cars, as well as many of the competitors', and the service dept. has been excellent and prompt-- I took my car in at 10am yesterday for the infamous 'door rattle' problem, and it was back in my hands (fixed) by 1pm. As soon as I showed up, they tossed me the keys to an FX45 for the day, and I almost waited a little longer to return it Fun to have an FX as a 'beater'.
Then again, I've not started diving into tons of aftermarket mod questions, etc. but they're motto is "never say 'I don't know', say 'I'll find out' ".

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

My experience yesterday at SouthWest Infiniti of Houston was my
first, well second bad experience I have had with them. My regular
service advisor had moved to another location, and I was given a new
one who fed me the line of bullsh*t about the ECU burn out and lack
of a rev limiter. Plus the parts department guy is smartallecky to me
every time I inquire about parts. I think I will explore another
dealership for service, parts in the future. Let your feet do the talking!
I had been extremely satisfied with my old service advisor.

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

Dig this - when I installed my Insaname grounding kit, I removed the whole battery compartment cover (not just the small lid over the battery). I had to crack the plastic pop-rivets to get everything apart. I happened to be at the Infiniti dealer the next day and asked if I could buy some pop rivets. The parts guy proceeded to tell me that "those are a one time use rivet. After you remove them, you can never put the cover back on." I asked if he was serious and he said yet. He actually wanted me to believe that I could never use my battery cover again. Luckily, Home Depot had the rivets I wanted and I'm back in business. That parts guy was a zero!

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

One thing I have noticed about the Infiniti Parts counter,
they seem totally unprofessional and incompentent compared
to their Nissan counterparts. Infiniti seems to not stock
parts, everything must be special ordered. When I asked
the smartallecky parts guy about the rear underbody
diffusers that come with the Aero Kit, he told me there
was no such thing. I had to explain to him all about the
Aero kit components. Then he insisted I give him my paint
code to look up the part. "It's not painted, the part goes
under the car", I explained. I have had it with this parts
guy, I will never inquire, buy or deal with that dealerships
parts department. Everytime I go to a real Nissan parts
counter, those guys seem to know exactly what is needed
and are professional AND respectfull.

What a POS that guy is! I had the Infiniti technicians show
me how to remove those pop rivits and how to replace them.
Find a new dealership for service/parts. These guys are
complete idiots sometimes.

So, you're saying there's a way to remove the pop rivets and still be able to re-use them? Mine totally broke when I pried them out - probably shouldn't have done that. How do you safely remove them?

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

The rivet is composed of a slightly wider rivet base, which
the rivet head can push into and pop out of.
Just take a small flat head screwdriver head, slip it
underneath the pop up rivet between the rivet head and base,
pry up the head and the entire rivet and base
can be removed. To reattach, make sure the rivet is in the up
position, place the entire assembly in the hole, then push
the rivet head down. It's very easy.

Please try typing your post in word (with spelling and grammar check) before you post.
Your complaints will not be taken seriously if you show that you are ignorant.

I have to admit.. it's kinda funny to watch you bag someone else's "edjucation."

Of course, this site does lack a built-in spell checker.

Dave G the complaints are still valid. The people here who post have experienced problems and are sharing them with us i think that if anyone of us were going to post formaly we would do a better job.

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

I once went to a Nissan dealer for Nismo parts, the answer I got from the clerk at the counter was ' NISwhat?'

Re: Dealerships not knowing anything??

Just reading this forum on a regular basis make more competent on the g35 issue than anyone working at my dealership. They know sweet nothing. To give you an exemple, I asked them for aluminum pedal maybe 3 months ago. They told me that it doen't exist. So I told them that I saw a lot of people on this forum who had it. So they told me that they will investigate and if they find it, they'll call me back to take my order. It seems that they didn't find it yet cause I never received a call. I show them my pedals that I bought from Grubbs. They told me that's the only way to have them to export it from US. That's completly false. They are ignorant and they want to stay that way.
