Wierd Clunk Noise on Coupes....

Anybody that owns a coupe after the engine heats up to normal temp. and drive around a bit does it make a wierd pop or clunk sound comng underneath the front end of the car? In order to hear the sound well from my car
1. heat car up to normal temp.
2. drive around a bit
3. come to a stop and leave engine on (no clutch, no a/c, no radio on)
4. you can hear a clunk or pop noise from underneath the car. sounds like metal hitting something or popping (IT HAS TO BE PRETTY QUITE)

conclusion. i took to the dealer and they replaced fuel injectors and tranny. they said that the car was running lean. they had the car for 1 week.

I got the car back and it still does the same thing. they said its normal.

i want anybody who can help on this issue. is it normal?

THANKS!

Same here with noise

I have a 2004 red G coupe 6mt and I get the same problem. Sounds like loose gears hitting on eachother from the engine or whatnot. If we can get more ppl to confirm this, might be a common flaw on Gs. Ive had my car since June 2004 and Ive experience too many annoying problems with this car from The Bose stereo system sound balance, cabin rattle, wind noise from sunroof and side windows, and transmission heat inside cabin, just to name a few. Bringing it to the dealer didnt help. Some just cant be fixed. Its design flaw.

hey aznrocbtm thanks for the reply. i though it was just my car, but i guess just like you said its a flaw. i also have the same issue that you with the bose system, sunroof, ect. what your saying makes alot of sense it probably is a design flaw.

You guys arent talking about the exhaust pipes cooling down and shrinking back to their original size are you? That makes a fairly loud poping & pinging as the metal is cooling down and contracting.

I can hear the same thing from my 05 6MT (7000 miles). The sound goes away when clutch is pressed in. It also makes a grinding sound when shut off if the clutch it not depressed. I took it to the dealer and they took apart the entire clutch, compared it to a new car, and told me it was normal. I still wonder, however.

Same for me, I have an 05 5AT Coupe and it makes loud popping noises either when it's on or off after driving it for about 30 minutes, I doubt that the cooling of the exhausts and contracting metal for such a short period of time will pop that loud.

05 10K miles - makes a tranny noise when shutting the car off. I also noticed that when its warmed up, if i get out of the car and listen to the engine there is some sort of clanking, its pretty quite, and pretty fast. I can also sometimes hear a noise when i have the windows down i press the clutch. don't know if its normal, this is my first stickshift.

Unhappy

I also have some similar noize problems, rear view mirror, bose sound balance, and last but not least the undercarriage noize. Some times when I shift to gear and I can hear either from the wheels or suspension the metal clicking sound. I don't know if anyone has similar problem but will go in on 9th to check it out.

There's a recent TSB related to this if the clicking is coming from the rear axle.
