No rasp and no SES light

Finally solved the rasp and O2 sensor issue from my testpipes. Wrapped them tight with the high temp header wrap, and then used the Help 42002 no-foulers (2 per side threaded into each other). No WOT pipe ringing and no light anymore.

At Schuck's auto supply. That's in WA state, but any auto parts store should have them. You have to drill out the opening with a 1/2" drill on the one you thread the O2 sensor into. Then thread that into the 2nd no-fouler, then into the pipe. The sensor is very isolated from the exhaust stream, but just enough gets to it for the ECU to be fooled. For $12 in parts, it seems to work pretty good.

The Kinetix resonated. They claim on their website that these pipes will not throw the light, but thats bull. They throw it. But not now.

Seems like the Labree resonated pipes are the best. I didnt know about them before I got these, but its all good now anyway.

is it true that your chances of throwing a CEL are FAR less on an 03 model than any other year?

I have an 03.5 and that light came on within 10 miles of having the pipes installed. However, I also have the stillen dual catback, so the scavenging flow is high. Maybe with a stock exhaust, it wont trip the light? I know they started some crap with the ECU in cars made after Oct. 03 or so where it is much more sensitive. Mine was made 9-02, so no problem there.

Hrmm, so that high heat wrap stuff really works for reducing rasp?, and that annoying ringing, marble in a pipe sound?

Can you give me the exact wrap that you bought, and how much of it you used on each test pipe. I may have to do this myself, I can't stand that ringing noise while driving , people must think something is wrong with my car when they hear that.

You can get it here http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...tegoryId=13943 but a local auto parts store should have it. Just use 2-2 1/2" hose clamps on each end of the wrap to hold it in place. If you want it really quiet, you could do a 2-layer wrap.

That's great, I will give it a shot.

Does it really eliminate that pinging sound in the pipes? I am mainly doing this for that reason alone.

I bought one 50 ft. roll of the 1" wide. I only used about half of it to do both sides. But I only wrapped the non-resonated, 2nd half of the pipe. If you have non-resonated pipes, you will have to wrap the whole length. I would buy 2 rolls in that case. You can always use the extra to wrap farther back on the y-pipe etc. to get better exhaust velocity. Just make sure to wrap the test pipes tight, I mean really pull on it as you wrap around. You want the fabric to dampen the ringing. If its just sitting loose on there, it wont do crap and be a waste of time.

Ok, cool. Yeah I have the resonated. Im gonna try doubling up the wrap just to make sure I dont hear any of that ringing or raspiness.
