Re: Ground wires

I assume you are referring to installing a Hyper Grounding wire kit.
All the factory ground wires are bolted down with 10mm bolt heads.
All you need is a good ratchet with a couple of different size extentions.
Of course you will need a metric ratchet set.

2003 Twilight Blue Sedan 5AT, sunroof, leather,
splashguards, GG red 8 wire Hypergrounding kit, 350Z intake duct, K&N filter.

Re: Ground wires

You need a flux capacitor, Doc.

Re: Ground wires

satch,
you need a ratchet set with 10mm socket head
you will also need some threadlock (blue color- automotive strength) and 2- 6Mx16mm bolts (some places dont carry these, keep looking)

Re: Ground wires

I don't usually recommend loctite as ppl use too much, or the wrong kind. It is an option though I've never seen a properly torqued Hyper-Ground bolt loosen up.

If you're connecting to 4 to 6 terminal lugs, you'll want to use a 20mm 6M. Also I suggest you look for grade 8.8 or greater if you don't want to risk snapping the bolts off.

Re: Ground wires

satch,

I told you! I wasn't lying about only needing a 10mm socket to do the grounding kit! I wouldn't steer a fellow G owner on the wrong path man - I'm not like that. I put in the 5 wire kit and used no lok-tite at all. I didn't even get longer bolts - just configured the wires so they don't step on eachother. it took a little patience holding them in place with one hand and tightening the bolt with the other but I did it and nothing is loose - not even the slightest!!!!

Re: Ground wires

I'd still agree with Rambo re using 16mm 6M bolts to replace the bolts at any points where 2 or 3 terminals meet. It's very easy to over tighten and pull out the threads on these aluminum engine parts.
