Just got back from Infinity to schedule my first service, and thought I would bring up some common issues I am experiencing with my G, such as rattling door, clock too dim, and loose seat rails. The service manager did not know of the dim clock issue and told me there was no TSB he knew of. He made a suggestion that I put brighter bulbs in myself. He also did not know of the loose seat rails or even the rattling door problem. Was he BS ing me or just lazy to look up the info? I am scheduled for service next week and would like to knock out all these problems at once. Is there a list of TSBs for these issues? Would like to go in there armed with info. I don't think they expect a customer to have the knowledge in hand that this board gives me. I hate doing other people's job for them. Thanks.

I have two of the same issues.. although the clock dosent really seem to bother me. I think its because I cant read the time on there.. HAHA JOKING!... anyways TSB's would be greatly appreciated so i can stop rocking back and forth in my driverseat.

The TSB for the door rattles is ITB02-021 (both zeros). I don't know if there is a TSB for the seat rock or the clock issue. There has been extensive discussion on freshalloy.com on all of these issues. I would suggest that you go to the site and do a keyword search. These have all been discussed in the past and some of the regulars seem to get very irritated when a newbie comes along and asks a question that has been asked and answered. Good luck. I had to fax the door rattle TSB to my dealer, who didn't seem to know about it until I sent it a month ago. I've taken my G in 4 times for the same rattles and can't get any satisfaction. Hope you have better luck.

My dealership has ordered the parts for my clock replacement so I'm sure the info should be listed for all Infiniti dealerships. However, I am located in Toronto, Ontario. Don't ask me what is to be replaced or the TSB for is because I have no idea what the clock replacement is about. I'm just going to have it done when they call me back for an appointment.

My problem is that they won't do the TSB work because they can't reproduce the noise on the day they would work on it. I've taken the car out with 2 different techs on two different occassions and both of them have heard the noise. However, when they go to work on it the next day, they can't hear the rattles so they won't perform the fix. Yeah, doesn't make sense to me either.

 

The updated p/n for new seat rails is 87450AM510. There were rumors that the problem only existed with the 2003 model, but I have the same problem with my 2003 1/2. Supposedly, the newer model alreaedy has the updated rails, but continues to have the same problem. I've been waiting 2 months for Infiniti to come up with a solution... so far nothing. I understand your frustration with the techs, and how they deal with TSB's. First they don't know anything about them (I had to take the info to my dealer) and then they usually say that they can't reproduce the problem. IMHO they should just perform the fix if a customer complains.

jetcityg, I agree with you in that Infinity dealerships should fix the problem if their customer complains. But realistically they are just a franchize out to make money. I do not believe that they would offer up the TSBs out on defective problem issues voluntarily. If they did, then they would open themselves up to the paranoid customer that wants everything replaced at the dealer's expense, even if he does not have all of the problems listed on the TSBs. I would expect Infinity to send out repair and recall notices for life threatening issues. Then again, I bought an Infinity for the quality and.. ahem.. prestige, and I should expect Infinity to honor any complaints I bring up (I did spend over $30 grand for this car). Problems like these should be addressed to Infinity customer care, not the sales or service rep at the dealership if the service dept is unwilling to fix them. Thanks for the part number. Got my G back today and I still have rattling knocking sounds on the front driver side door. The service rep said they insulated the inside of the doors and where the speaker deck is. They did not even touch the clock or the seat rails. They did install tamper proof headlamp caps (recall?) so I can't point the death rays at helpless drivers field of vision. They didn't even wash my car right and I have light scratches all over the car from their wash rags or dry towels (are they cleaning the car with a Brillo pad?). I will try to take a deep breath and relax.
