Full stop...

Okey,
My dad has been telling me this for few days now, its hard to beleive em so i'm confused. Everytime your at a red light, Stop sign etc, when you push on gas, is it bad to push hard on gas from a full stop? Since he told me, i went easy with the G and all the people around me just looked..ahaha
having a hard foot after a stop sign, does it cause problems for the engine? Only thing i can think of is that ur burning more fuel but thats about it. Can you cause problems to your auto tranny?

Manbir

That's just bad advice. It's like the time when a mechanic told me that one should never rev the engine over 3000 rpm.

Yeah it doesn't hurt or ruin the car at all. I do it all the time when I drive my mom's G around.

The only caveat to add would be to make sure the engine is fully warm before getting too hard on the throttle! Don't just go by the temp gauge, as it usually takes a few extra minutes after the temp gauge is up to normal before everything that needs to be up to temp, actually is.

Otherwise, it can be very bad for your engine!

Well it is not that is is extreemly bad for your car but Jack Rabit starts do wear some things out faster than if you were to take off smoothly (motor mounts for one). But don't worry, the car was designed to take it and you are not going to break anything. Just a bit more wear an tear than necessary.

Personally I've almost always gun it off the line. It is just too much fun. The small amount of extra wear and tear may not even be noticible over the time I own the car, and the fun factor way more than pays for it anyway. That is why we bought these cars, you might as well enjoy it.
