That's why Nissan has that there!!!! So they can mass produce this part and hopefully rid the problem of vibrations.

Also people this is not really a HP mod. It only frees up the motor to rev a little quicker. How much????? I have always looked at this as an aid to get you "out of the hole" quicker. If you want real improvements, get a lightened flywheel otherwise it will be a so-so mod!!! Like MechEE said previously, you'll only really feel this mod's maximum effect in first gear. Damn I hate agreeing with him!!!
Nissan has that there to match the vibration characteristics of the crank. You think it's cheaper for them to produce a composite pulley like that?

And the motor will "rev a little quicker" the same amount that adding 1-2 whp will make the motor rev more quickly in 1st. If you think that will make a difference in getting you "out of the hole" more quickly, where traction and launch dominate, feel free to waste your money. The lightened pulley companies are counting on it.

YES IT IS CHEAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll ask my boss to send you a quote! What do you want 32 or 64 cavity mold???? Man.......... step back from the mirror. We have some live tooling lathes at work that couldn't do this job as cheap. Give it to the 3rd world countries to run and you're laughing. Really......... stop pretending CLOWN.

As for the pulleys??????? I personally wouldn't waste my money on them. I'd rather save my money for clutch and flywheel combo. I hate raining on other peoples parades unlike you. Maybe that's all they can afford. Maybe they're happy with the output!!!!! WHO CARES!!!!!!!! As long as they feel good about it, SO FVCKEN WHAT!!!!!! You ever have a pulley on any of your cars? How about a lighten flywheel???? Really guy............. step back from the mirror........... it might just crack!!! Sorry Moderator(s), but I'm done with this guy.

BTW........ Did you know the VQ is harmonically balanced internally???

Sure, most motors are "balanced internally", but internally balanced basically gets thrown out the window once those explosions start occuring in the combustion chamber. When the engine is operating throughtout it's varying rpms, the crank experiences various order vibrations and that's what the crank pulley damper is for. The fact that the motor is internally balanced doesn't help a whole lot.

Oh really? Casting TWO pieces, machining each of them, and then coupling them in another process with rubber is CHEAPER than casting and machining one piece? In the end they both need to be balanced. Please explain, I'm interested.

Nissan spent the additional money on a harmonic dampening pulley for a reason. Regardless of how much balancing has been done internally with counterweights from the base reciprocating masses (most all modern engines are "internally balanced"), clearly through their simulationg and research they found the characteristics of the pulley to be beneficial to bearing life and crank loads under random combustion stresses and vibrations you encounter (knocking, pinging, general combustion).

You have never heard of over molding? As to explain myself.......... Read up on it. I need explain nothing to you.

Be careful there buddy. There has been a few threads on this before, and I myself agree with Dave on this. How ever, take my advise and do as you please.

Naming the process by which the rubber is cast in to the two separate cast and machined crank pieces doesn't change the fact that the composite pulley is more expensive! Ask your boss about it. And harmonic dampening pullies are used all over the place on modern internally balanced engines, and for good reason. Read up on it.

Conclusion for lightened crank pulley:

Pros: Pulley is pretty, can say you have more mods

Cons: Virtually no increase in power, additional vibration, increased bottom-end peak stresses
