installing mrev+ before end of break in period
hey guys,
just a quick question and hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction. i was just wondering if it was ok to install the mrev+ on my 06 before the end of the break in period. would there be any malfunctions (ecu or any other)? couldn't find anything on the search. and does anybody in the austin area have it installed and maybe have the time/space/tools to help a fellow driver out?
thanks.

You should be fine with the MREV install. However, I would personally continue to follow the break-in procedures per the manual for the rest of the break-in period. LOL . . . You may find it difficult in keeping your revs below 4k rpm with the MREV installed.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
haha. yeah, i know what you mean. i'm going to still follow. i'm just a couple of hundred miles off (1200miles is the period right?) i haven't been above 4k on purpose yet, hopefully i'll keep it steady for a little while longer. oh yeah, quick question...the shift flasher (red blinking light in the middle, at least that's what i think it is) goes away after the break in period right? i accidentally went over 4k once and it was blinking. thanks for the replies.
Blinking???? On my break in period I went over a few times
and had no problems with blinking. Go ahead and install it. You won't hurt anything. On my pervious VQ I drove it like I stole it from day one!!! After 86K miles it still ran like a charm.

The REV light is adjustable. Press on the odometer button and scroll through A then B then it will show what RPMS the light is set at. Hold in the button and it will flash - press the button up to the RPM you want to set it at and boom, done deal.

I subscribe to the "drive it hard from the beginning" philosophy. It is described here http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm ...I tend to agree with MOST things on that website in regards to breaking in a motor. But do keep in mind that the break in that is described in the manual for the car is a general break in.
By this I mean that I dont break in my ENGINE per the manual's method, however there are other parts that should be broken in nicely. Namely, the clutch. You can definitely got WOT on a new clutch/clutch disc with no problems, just can't be doing 5000 RPM dumps from day one. Good rule is 300-500 miles of going easy on the engagement.
