the mid pipe and y pipe will fit but the muffler will not

Is there a reason the muffler wont fit? can something be modified? Do i really need an 04-05 exhaust then?

yeah infiniti changed the exhaust hangars in 05-06. you could take it to a muffler shop and i am sure they could weld on a bracket to match your stock hangar
