The UTEC is a piggy back programmable ECU that allows you to have your car custom tuned.

Most commonly used with turbo/supercharger kits to monitor and tune fuel delivery, timing and boost control in order to safely boost your Z or G.

Different 'maps' are programmed and loaded onto the UTEC for different applications-- for example you can have a 'street map' that is tuned for the best possible gas mileage and then have a 'race map' that is tuned for maximum horsepower and boost. Maps can be switched on the fly using the UTEC map selector switch.

The UTEC can also be set up to data-log and is user programmable using a laptop computer and included tuning software.

The UTEC also includes 'base maps' for commong modifications like intake/exhaust/header modifications to gain more power than you would with just stock tuning.

you would really have to talk to one of the guys at TurboXS about that. It varies depending on how aggressively or conservatively the car is tuned.

If you have i/e/h mods I would ballpark that it would probably give you around 10-20 more hp and torque to the wheels with a customre UTEC tune. That could be way off, im not sure.

It is not really a significant hp/$ ratio if you don't plan on adding some sort of forced induction eventually.
