Just Hit 5k miles on my 2008 EX35 in about 2 1/2 months. Here is the cliff notes version:
- Noticed a tire vibration when driving from dealership after delivery(dealership is 80miles from home) . Got home, found too much psi, adjusted psi next morning.
- Drove about 1000 miles before vibration became too noticeable. Took it into dealership, they rebalanced and rotated. Noticed no improvement on drive home.
- Took it back, they turned the rotors and rotated tires 180 degrees on wheel and rebalanced.
- Took it into local Nissan dealership who has road force machine and had them test/balance it. Rims good. Found excessive roadforce (>12lb) on 2 tires. They were 9lb, 10lb, 17lb, 26lb.
- Informed Infiniti about it. They needed to perform their own test, so took it in again, used their Lexus dealership's roadforce machine to test. Ordered 4 new tires under warranty.
- Went in again for get replacements put on, balanced and everything (5th trip into dealership)
- Life was good, right?.....WRONG!
- Put 2000 miles on new tires, hit a few potholes, drove though some down pours and heat spells, etc. Noticed steering wheel vibration return at 5000miles. Looked at wheels, saw missing weight (just sticky tape, no weights).
- Figured no biggie, will just take it into Nissan for roadforce. master tech calls me back to the bay to show that 1 tire is showing 27lb of roadforce and machine refuses to balance. WTF?
Other are at 13lb, 17lb & 18lb WTF? These are worse than the old ones!
- Just wrote a long *** email to Infiniti dealership expressing frustration.
So I am at $120 out of pocket for roadforce balancing, 5 trips to dealership, 80 miles each way, for ~800 miles. They are out 4 tires, 4 free service appointments and have 1 unhappy customer in an EX that is 2 1/2 months old at 5000 miles. This is not cool.
Btw, the tires I have are the OEm Michelin 225/60R17, run them at 34psi cold.
Do you guys get vibration at the 70-74mph mark, specially noticeable if you hit 75mph and coast down to 70mph on a smooth road. some vibration in steering wheel and some coming though seat and shift lever?
