Well, it makes sense, since if you buy the FG version from these guys and get it professionally painted, you'll end up spending close to the same amount as the CF one.

The FG diffuser will be prepainted with a gel black... you'll only need to paint it if you want it to color match your car. I'll be putting it on as black to let it stand out more.

What's up with the FG diffusers? I thought their ETA was mid March

What I've never gotten a firm answer on, is if that gel coat is good enough alone. I've heard that it's just sort of a primer-like paint-ready surface, and won't stand up to the elements.

yes, those gel coat black is like a primer type materials. it doesn't have any clear coat on it. If you spray the gel coat on, it will work.

Did you mean we should spray clearcot on top of the black gel coat? Would it adhere correctly/evenly without scuffing it up first though? I have no experience with this gel coat stuff, so I have no idea about its durability (or lack thereof).

it's basically a flat black paint on top of the fiber glass.
