The JDM cars are wired from the factory with the corner lights blinking. This small bump makes the corner lamp visible to drivers at your side, especially when they blink. Our corner lights are easily modified to blink, there's even a DIY that shows the wiring (it's 1 wire on each corner light).

The standard corner lights from the factory in Japan are the amber corners with the bump, and the optional parts are the clear corners with the bump. Some owners in Japan change the corners to the smooth type we have here, for a cleaner, different look.
