Not as fancy, but I made my own board to fix this problem.

I would like one as well. Do you need the stock assembly? What is the procedure? How much does it cost? Check or Paypal? Thanks.

Thats cool. I just don't see the point in having it way brighter than the tail lights, also being higher up it has more of a chance of blinding the guy behind you.

I use the same LEDs as LEDmarkers which are the same as OEM, the LEDs you are using will not match the original brightness. To prove it, try comparing the output on a wall.

If you used 18 LEDs I can see it being as bright as stock.

Im going to make a new board that will utilize 6 or 12 LEDs, not sure if Ill voltage regulate or not. Wouldnt be necessary with 12 LEDs.

It is in fact a little brighter than stock. You don't need to have an attitude about it. I get it, my boards aren't fancy. I was just providing a service to the members here that was missing.

Im not giving an attitude man, Im having a lighting discussion with you. I would be interested in seeing output comparison pictures. If they are, the OEM ones arent being used very efficiently. You should look into lumileds, as the vendor in this thread used, for automotive LEDs.

Brake lights DO need to be very bright, especially this one. It needs to not only be visible, but it needs to get the drivers attention. And it needs to be able to do this when placed behind tint, and in glaring sunlight.

Wow, is that OEM setup ever bad though. They tied LEDs together :S Assuming the current will be evenly split between them.

I looked through the datasheet of the OEM ones and got ones that were same wavelength, but brighter. The ones I have use a lot less power, and I prefer the 5mm LEDs anyway. With all the problems with the stock LEDs, I wanted to stay as far away from those as possible. They're too easy to burn out. Just a bit of extra voltage can kill them. Granted, I've only had my board going for 4 months now, but I have LEDs I put in for other projects that have been on almost constantly for about 10 years straight.

This topic doesn't seem like the right place to discuss lighting in general. Feel free to PM me if you'd like.
