Remote panic button disable

After having accidentally set this sucker off half a dozen times while trying to hold onto more than I should be carrying, I decided it's time for a panic button delete mod

It was actually really easy. Only tools required are a coin and a pair of scissors.

1) Remove all keys and rings from the remote
2) Pop open the remote housing with a coin using the gap at the top

3) Pull the rubber button panel out of the front casing (this also removes the circuitry)

4) Pop the curcuit board out from within the rubber panel, being careful not to damage the clear plastic overlay underneath

5) Using the scissors snip off the last connector dot on the skinny end of the overlay (the end that corresponds to the red panic button)

6) Re-assemble

Nice writeup. And, I would assume if you ever decide you want to have panic again a piece of scotch tape would bring it back from the dead! Good job.

Is it really that big of an issue? I don't think I've ever accidently pushed the button. Then again, I hardly ever drive the car so I guess I wouldn't know.

The time-sensitivity of the panic alarm can be adjusted in the BCM. I believe the default setting causes it to trigger after being held down for 2 seconds. I forget how long it can be delayed, but maybe up to 4 seconds (?).

Hello everyone !

LOL!! I must admit that is a simple solution to the situation. I guess it can be reversed if you need that feature back.

As an FYI note to this mod, I thought I would let everyone know their is another alternative. Infiniti does provide for 3 options by reprogramming the BCU using CONSULT II.

The Remote Panic Alarm Operation can be set to one of three modes. The alarm will activate when the button on the keyfob is held for approx.
MODE-1 1/2 SECOND
MODE-2 DISABLED
MODE-3 1 1/2 SECONDS

You could ask the dealer or tech to do it for you, but i dont know if they would charge for this.

This is considered an "undocumented adjustment", it does not appear in the owners manual. Some techs will say this cant be done, or that it is a 'myth'. This is not true. I believe they say this because it takes them a bit of technician time, and they don't want to change things back and forth.

This is similar to the mystery "ALL MY DOORS ARE LOCKED AND I DIDN'T LOCK THEM" "undocumented adjustment". I know several people that freaked out when this happened to them.

When I think about it, COPBAIT's mod is quick and doesnt require the car to be taken to the dealership.

Yes, I have problems with those little annoyances that most people can simply ignore. I just can't let them go without a fight, especially if that means I get to cut, burn, slam, pound, bite, and/or tear the object(s) giving me a hard time.

Must.....seek.....counseling

You could also just put a little tape on the underside of the button. That way it would be easily removable if you ever wanted your panic alarm back.

That's what I said too, until it happened like three more times, then I was like "ok you're done!"

I dont ever expect to put it back to stock, unless maybe I sell the car to a woman or something, they seem to like all that crap
