slow g?

disclaimer: this mentions spirited street driving against other cars so please turn away if the subject bothers you. in no way do i condone street racing.

ok so recently on my way to work, i caught up with a 04-05 bmw 540i. ive always loved the 5 series. im guessing this had to be the 290hp/325tq sport because it was tough to pull away from. i was just barely pulling on him. no disrespect for the car but it was just a bit nerve racking.

next story, my buddy just got an 06 is350 which is a gorgeous car. we ran from 60-100 first and then 40-100. i pretty much got spanked.

now am i just that cocky about my g? ive got just a couple performance mods but maybe its my wheels hurting me a bit? i know they're heavier than stock so its kind of bothering me. i guess i just feel like i should be faster so i had to vent.

Haha. I think the next time I complain about the same thing I'll get banned, that's how often I have done it. You have a gorgeous car in the most gorgeous color, there's more to a car than straight line acceleration and let's leave it at that.

oh trust me, if i wanted a drag car id have bought a srt-4 with tons of decals. i love both of those cars, i just felt like i should have won for some reason. maybe its the 2 doors? i guess ive got an fi mindset without the funds lol.

edit: just so you know my next mods are stillen sways and tein 350z h-techs. i spend as much time sliding my rear end as i do speeding. thats also why i need new rear tires, oops?

You have a heavy car. Compared to the Z, it is heavier and you also have wider diameter wheels which do not help gearing. Also, it's auto, which usually has different gearing and power loss compared to a manual.

i am lazy and selling a modified cars is not very worthwhile.. i will get more money if i spend a weekend stripping the car down and selling all of the stuff - it's just a big pain in the ***.

It's your car's weight, plus your heavier rims/tires, plus your automatic, plus your auto's gear ratios.

The power to weight ratio in conjuction with the driveline is what made the difference.
