The cops get paid to go to court and some get in trouble for missing an appearance. If you lose, you will likely have to pay court costs of at least $30 or more. And you'll have to take te time to go to court.

25 ft? i used to think it was something like 200 ft. i got 1 of these in my accord with 2 pioneer 12s. the stupid thing is that it was a motorcycle cop so of course it was louder. he said he heard me coming from a block away. i didnt feel like explaining the dopplar effect so i just paid it lol. my buddy had 1 is his accord with 3 jl 12s for something like 1000 ft the cop said.

The law is now 25ft... which is not far away at all, especially with the windows down.

Edit: I just tested to see... you can hear the STOCK bose radio from 25ft when it is set on 12, which no one in their right mind can call "loud."

I just think the ticket was not written in the spirit of the law. It was not loud 25ft away, it was just slightly audible... Slightly audible at one of the busiest intersections in NE St. Petersburg. Normal traffic there is 3x as loud as my radio was... I was not disturbing a anyone.
Moreover, the ticket was written at 7:30 at night... I was coming back from dinner with a member of the board of directors from Georgia Tech. It's not like it was coming home from some crazy party at 1 in the morning and acting like an idiot.

I use the ticket clinic for my traffic violations. They usually get you no points and just have to pay court fees of 30-60 bucks. Plus nothing goes on your driving record if you win.

If there is no points, I would just pay it becuase the lawyer will cost around 100-150. It is those darn speeding tickets you need a lawyer for.

Ya I just ended up paying it. No points... wasn't worth my haste to fight. But it still really pisses me off.

Get this, I take my dad to the place where it happened to show him how loud i was playing my music. But, I never get around to showing him cause theres a bum peeing on the bushes right next to my car. I mean come on, the cops waste their time picking on me?
