How Much For Brakes?

My '05 G35 just turned 26,000 miles and was wondering how much longer before I'll be looking at brake work?

The rotors may need to be turned soon, since I'm feeling a little of a pulse. How much to turn the rotors?
How much for a full brake job, and what shops in Orlando can I look to take it to in lieu of Orlando Infiniti?
How much more will the dealership charge than an independent shop?

Lots of ? I know, and thanks for the help!

There are several rotor options that aren't super expensive, but Autozone wouldn't be my first pick. Change the rotors when they are thinner than specs, but you'll have to get them off first.

Pep Boys will turn your rotors for $12 each. And if you can take them off yourself, you can do the entire brake job yourself. Only two bolds hold the caliper onto the hub and then you can use a rubber hammer to knock the rotors loose from the hub. you might as well change the pads too.

When the pads wear out, check the rotors then, unless you are feeling a pulse in the pedal.

Orlando Infiniti told me that my rear pads needed replacement and quoted me about $283 for that job. I bought Axxis Deluxe pads for $38 and changed them myself. The rotors in the rear didn't need to be turned at all. I'm sure the quote for the front rotors would be much more.

In other words, don't go to the dealer.

Just be aware that there is a difference in rotors and pads. 03-04 are smaller than 05-06 and if you have Brembo, those are completely different.

as to my recent knowledge there are no aftermarket pads for 05 front brakes. the rear are the same as 03-04 non-brembo. but the front are bigger than 03-04 non-brembo so they wont fit.

i changed my rotors to rotora and that made a huge diff. cause my stock rotors were pretty worped

PM sflg35 for a good deal on the rotora rotors.

The stg. 2 Stoptech kit is the best bang for your buck for brake systems. Rotors, pads, lines, and fluid pretty much everything you need.

I understand that the pads for an 06 Z are the same as 05-06 G's.

Ok well you shouldn't have to do any sort of rotor work at 26k.

Brake pads vary on usage, but those are super easy to change.

Brakes question.........

I appears you have your answer.........don't use factory pads but go with
either Hawk or Mu pads.......no dust or squeeks if broken in right...........
Jeremy will give you good advice!

Hey

Hey whats up guys, I'm sorta in the same problem as John, I need to get my brakes and probably rotors replaced because I sometimes hear a faint screeching sound (usually cold days) when I brake or slow down to stop.

My question, is that I am under warranty because its been less than 3 years around 23k so far. So if I go to OI, would I have to pay anything to get them replaced and checked out. The reason why I ask is because I didnt buy my G from OI b/c I live out of state and I'm here for college. The dealership back home had my pads, rotors replaced @ 13k for free. What am I looking at?

Oh and I have a 04 Sedan.

Thanks for all of the help!

My understanding is that Infiniti extended the brake warranty for 03 and 04 G's to 36 months or 36K miles. It doesn't matter where you bought your car to get warranty work. I bought both of mine used and have had warranty work done at OI.

BTW, welcome to the FGC section. Feel free to make more posts. Come out and meet us sometime.
