That guy is lucky he brought it to you when he did. A bit more running and that piston would have stuck or broken and the rod would have destroyed the block and probably the cylinder head. This way he just bores or sleeves the block, buys a few new parts and is good to go... somewhat expensive parts, but the block, crank, and heads are reusable.

crank is fine, the block has one scar in it BUT the piston kind of welded itself to the walls so, i dont know if the groove is in the new material added or into the actual block.

hopefully it will be good, i will know tomorrow at the machine shop
