Hey guys, i received my new wheels wednesday, the SSR C-RS, and they are not as dark as the picture posted on tire rack's website. I definitely want them darker than what they are and i got a quote of $500 to powder coat them in the color i want, for all 4. My question is, is this a good deal? If not feel free to give me contact info for your hook up. TIA.

that really depends.. do they have to mask off other parts of the wheels? are they doing the whole wheel or just the center?

i got a quote here in jax and they were between $200-$400. this was just for sandblasting the old finish and coating. $400 was for a custom color that had to be special ordered and that included me buying a whole bag of powder.

This will be for painting the entire wheel with the exception of the outer part that is covered by the tire anyway. also to color match the center caps because the ones that came with it, are really out of place. so spokes exposed and unexposed area, inner wheels, etc. the SSR sticker does have to be removed from one of the spokes and replaced after painting. not sure how that's going to be done. The picture below is the color i wanted, but the actual wheel turned out to be lighter in color.

Seems expensive if they aren't taping off. My wheels are 3pc, they took the tires off, took the rims apart completely and just powdercoated the rims and put all back together for $450.

i don't see the sense of painting a part of the rim you won't see anyway. every other part that is not covered by the tire will be painted. The rims are new, still in the box, but you still think that's expensive?

I dont know what your talking about here. What im just saying is that it would cost significantly more if a shop has to tape off the wheels or piece them apart compared to just spraying it all. Since I'm saying I only paid $450 and they parted my wheels off completely, it should be a good chunk less for you.

these are not 3 piece like yours, so nothing to take apart. so you're saying it should be cheaper since there isn't extra work, like taking them apart and such. i see, i guess i got to keep shopping around. thanks.

Here are some pics to go along with what i'm saying. i mounted the wheel today with no tire just to get a look at it. without a tire wrapped around it its hard to make a call whether to keep it the same color or paint it darker. The car being brilliant silver, i figure dark color wheels will look good. I previously had some gloss black wheels with polished lip before and it looked really good, since my tint is about 5% (limo). Got the blue lugnuts since the caliper of the BBK i'm getting soon is also blue in color. there is a picture of my car now, maybe someone can photoshop the new wheels on there?
