I concur with Kev's warning on the route from G'ville to J-Vegas. Having made that journey numerous times for UF games, watch your speed in Waldo, Starke, Lawtey, and any other small town on 301. They go from 55 to 25 in like 1/4 mile, with little or no warning.

Speed traps are huge revenue generators for the small towns, but you Gainesville guys already know that. Be careful!

Count me in guys...also coming from the Gville...my family lives in Jax so I'm typically there weekly.

And I know it's been said a few times, but to those traveling through Waldo/Starke/Lawtey, watch your speed. I actually have had tickets in both Waldo and Lawtey...who knows when the one from Starke is coming

For all of you Gainesville people...

When I go to Gainesville, this is the route that I take. Fastest, easiest, nice straightaways for some spirited runs, and best of all.... NO WALDO!!!

You all should meet up at E. University ( 26 ) & NE Waldo ( 24 ) near the Airport. Take ( 26 ) all the way down and cross over (301 ) going towards Melrose ( 21 - which is Blanding Blvd ). Take a left at that light where there's a Jiffy on the opposite side of the light. You'll go through Keystone, but stay on Blanding all the way to 2-95. Go 2-95 South and cross the Buckman Bridge towards I-95. Take I-95 North and pass the Avenues Mall/Phillips Hwy and take the Southside Exit which is right after that. Then go straight on that road and go underneath the JTB Overpass, Hooters will be on your right side in front of the Tinsletown Theaters and other restaurants.

Here's a map for reference....

Sweet...I've never tried this route before and I've been traveling to Jax almost weekly for 4 years...typically what I do is I take 301 until I hit Normandy Blvd., then I take Normandy to 103rd St, which takes me to 295. How long does the trip take your route? Is it faster than my route? Thanks!

Well going the route I just said... on Blanding, you can take Branan Field that takes you straight to 103rd and that's a nice straightaway too if you're trying to reach 103rd. Plus you still don't have to deal with Waldo, and you're going more NW out of the way kinda compared to the Map Example I showed you. As far as the timeframe, that all depends on the driver, time of day, traffic, etc... Usually under an hour though. I'm sure both ways are comparable, just no Waldo, the only slow up would be going through Keystone, but still a nice drive. All depends on where you're going.

Yours & Mine compared from Gainesville to 295.

Tried to catch up with you....
