Tire hook-up?

Any of you fine gentlemen have a hook-up to buy tires? I was thinking about Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS in 235/35/19 and 275/30/19, but am willing to talk other tires that aren't too bad.

Anyone have experience with Kumho Ecsta SPT?

Trying to steer clear of Nitto, Toyo and any other brands that cause a lot of noise.

Thanks,

Jason

ps - my M3 should be here in a week, already ordered a bunch of goodies!

I have the Ecsta SPTs on my sedan and I like them. They can be a little noisy as they wear down. But they are inexpensive and work well for the price.

I haven't found a quiet performance tire.

You can never get them from TK as cheap as they could sell them, I've tried. I will have to take my car there to get it aligned unfortunately.. I hate people working on my car, hate it!

All of the M3 guys have been talking about General UHP tires. Cheapest tires on tirerack, but they seem to be solid tires. I was looking at BFG KDW2 and some Yokohamas... Too many choices.

I drive about 40k miles a year in my G so I'm changing out tires 2 - 3 times in the year.

here is what I have found.

Well from what I understand the best UHP tire is the General Exclaim UHP. they are also quite inexpensive.

These will be my next set of tires.

Right now I have these: Sumitomo HTRZ II (on second set)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

Decent tire and they are dirt cheap. A set of these lasts about 20k miles under very, very aggressive driving. But the downside is they are very noisy.

My last set was the Kumho Ecsta SPT

I hated them.. for me they were the worst tire I have ever used. Very noisy, low grip and prone to tire cupping.

Before that I had Dunlop SP sports:

Good tire but the treadwear was pretty awful (15k miles) and they are expensive.

a long time friend is the store manager at Tires Plus in Clearwater, he said would give us good pricing on anything we wanted, just ask for Jon Curtis 727-585-3811 , say you are with G35 driver or mention my name, Lenny.

tirerack.com or edgeracing.com will always be the cheapest. it just sucks paying more to have them installed.

i did that once and had them put on at g&h tires on beach/st johns. their prices actually werent too bad. i might have to consider it again.

Andrew (twincam) uses the General UHPs on his TT G35 sedan and seems to like them.

im not sure who works the alignment rack at TK these days, but i suggest going across the street to 5th gear. Art is the tech at 5th gear and used to be over at TK many years ago. He's been in the business for many years and i know he's worked on a couple M3s.

Art went back to 5th Gear?? Do they have a drive-on alignment machine? I know at the level I am going to lower the M a regular rack is going to cause trouble (trust me, plenty of experience here). Art has worked on every car I have owned (alignment/wheels/tires).

Thanks, can't wait for it to get here, hopefully by my birthday next week! Most likely the following week though... Just like my G35 purchase, a whole bunch of mods will be in the garage waiting.

Psssshh. When is the next time you are coming home? It would be nice to put a name to a face, and check out the G. You need to come visit Dennis at his house.
