Due to more than half the people backing out, im gonna go ahead and cancel this event. I would also like to say that I will no longer try to make events for us.
The point of changing the meets from every week to every other was to promote a bigger turn out and make it more fun. Since this has failed to occur, i just wont waste my time..

When I joined the Florida G Club, all the action was in Orlando... All the meets were in Orlando... I drove to Orlando more times than Veronica has driven to Tampa/St. Petersburg... Maybe...
The first meet I scheduled in St. Petersburg was at Quaker Steak & Lube. We had three (3) people show up... Myself, Bill (Ferk) and Ryan (98Intrigue). We had a fun time... chatted about all kinds of stuff... and posted back about the good time we all had.
Through time I scheduled meets in Tampa and Clearwater and moved the days to Sunday so people that work on Saturdays could come. Our yearly Lakeland Meet was planned to be halfway between Orlando and Tampa to get the Orlando peeps to drive a bit. This years Lakeland Meet will be our 4th annual event. We've steadily picked up people through time so that we now have a pretty good turn out. I try to schedule one meet a month and give at least a weeks notice.
I have found two things to help... If you schedule a meet, make sure you have a meet. Don't cancel a meet because of what seems like it will be a low turn out. Lots of people come that never sign up (Daniel) and lots of people skip that do sign up.
The only other advice I would give you is to post meets in a separate thread. I know you Orlando peeps like to keep long rolling threads about everything under the sun, but it probably stops casual attenders from reading them.
Schedule a fun meet at a place with good food and good parking. People will come. Try scheduling a weekend meet at the Hooters by the airport. They have great parking and are nice people. The OZOC holds lots of their meets there... or they used to at least. Call them beforehand and make sure you pick a night where a lot of other stuff isn't going on. People won't come unless there's lots of good parking.

Man wish the meets were on a friday or saturday im always tired on sunday from partying too much

That stinks that the meet didn't go through. I was actually very interested in going. It's really hard for me to get evenings off.
Maybe next time! I like the h00ters idea. Standing around and talking in the parking lot is probably one of the most attractive type of meets. People can come by, hang out for an hour and then leave. Although, I do like putt putt golf...

Thanks for the advice, JB. I'd really like to get a weekly meet going again. Like dinner somewhere maybe? There's plenty of places to go... after all, it is Orlando. I haven't started working nights yet, so I'd be open for a weeknight but weekends work too. I know most people make plans for weekends which is why, in the past, we stuck to our Wednesday night meets. Suggestions, anyone?
Next Wednesday - Buffalo Wild Wings across from Waterford Lakes? 8pm? Once everyone agrees on a day/place/time we can create a new thread

I'm down with that V. I'm actually off on Wednesdays now. Hence why I wanted to go to osw tonight...
We should talk to a few of the establishments on the east side of Orlando and see what would be the best place to hold weekly meets. We need to make sure that the manager is cool with us taking up so many parking spaces each week.
I think weekly meets should be Wednesday or on a weekday. Weekends should be reserved for bigger meets or other recreational stuff.

Cool, thanks for your input, Shawn. I know of a few places that have huge parking lots where it wouldn't really matter (aka BWW), but I do agree that we should talk to the managers and see how they feel about us hanging out there.

Yea. I just say that in case it's gonna be an on going thing. Eventually, the staff is going to notice if their parking lot is full of cars every Wednesday.
