update: new motor

well just picked my car up after about 2 weeks at infiniti. official cause was an oil pump failure but unofficially it was oil consumption due to aggressive driving/downshifting. either way, im grateful that they saved me about $10k lol. running castol synthetic blend for now. ill probably change out in 1k miles and again in 3k miles before i get back to mobil 1 synthetic. im even going to try and follow the break-in - no cruise control or revs over 4k for the first 500 miles. just happy to have my stiff riding, loud exhaust, slow and dirty car back.

o ya, it cost me $50 for an oil change.

oh i forgot to mention they said i should not have any problems with this 1. the only auto motor they make now has higher tension on the o-rings to prevent oil consumption.

i meant to ask them that. i doubt it starts over on the car as im over the normal warranty. however, im sure the engine comes with something even if its only like 10-20k. im going back tomorrow so ill make sure to ask.

i meant to ask, but i thought your car was out of warranty. so did you have an extended warranty or was it covered under the powertrain warranty?

did you always do your normal services there?

Is the extended warranty a good thing to have cuz my factory warranty is coming to an end and they keep sending me letters to get an extended warranty.. if a motor only cost u 50 bucks i guess i need to get the extended warranty

im over my factory warranty - 4 years/60k miles. i think the powertrain though is 6 years/70k miles so thats what saved me. i did all my oil changes there and a transmission flush at 50k miles.

I have access to a couple of oil consumption engines, plus I'm going to sell the RevUp engine from my G35 Coupe. My engine is currently at the Performance Factory in Orlando.

PM me if you are interested.
