I've only been pulled over once in the G (last month) and he called the K-9 unit on me and yelled at me over the speaker. I decided to just pay the ticket and not **** him off more by taking it to court.

If you haven't gone to driving school for at least 1 year, then just take the course and bring a copy of your course certificate with your citation when you pay your fine. They'll give you a 10% discount or whatever you paid for your school, whatever.
If you want to take it to court like BlackMax suggested, when you plead "Non Contendere", the judge will hear your case, and if there's any issue with your license being suspended without your knowledge, he/she can just make the ticket go away. If you are at fault, he/she orders you to take the course, which does not count against the 5 max. You'll also get the 10% (or whatever) discount. Thing is tho, "Non Contendere" is on your record.

I would take it with me but its in Martin County... I work M-F in Orlando... lol so I don't know how I would go about turning it in to get a 10% discount... since it would cost way more than $14.80 in gas to drive down there and back it probably wouldn't be worth it. Its a good idea though if it was local! I'll figure something out.

check yellow pages for traffic lawyers in martin county. fl is pretty cheap as a state for hiring lawyers. usually you pay about $75-100 for the lawyer. then you pay the court fees = ticket amount if they get it withhold adjudication. so you're looking at about $100 more for a lawyer and no points vs taking the class with no points. it shows on your record with the class but as long as you dont get points, your insurance usually wont go up.

Personally I just pay them, I don't like court. But heres an alternative for you.

F*CK MARTIN COUNTY! Just pay, take the class, be done with it, & don't look back. If you don't have a real lawyer, don't bother wasting your time with their shoddy judges & court system.

I do have a lawyer, I've already had numerous phone calls with him, met with him once and am going to meet with him again on Monday. It will be a few hundred $$ for him to drive to Martin Co. lol
