Act hd pressure plate failure

Ok so I just found out what happened to my car and now I'm pissed! Just put in an act nz1-hdg6 clutch kit with the act 13.2 pound flywheel and been driving on it for six months now loved it but the other night lost clutch pedal and made a awful squealing sound when the pedal was on the floor come to find out the throw out bearing pushed thru the pressure plate fins folding them in and the outer part of the throwout bearing is now rubbing on the fins total failure on act FML anyone ever had problems with act?

Yeah I love the clutch and flywheel and it was installed by Lokey Infiniti so I highly doubt the install was off I'm thinking defect and yes it does suck cause act prob isn't going to cover it

Sorry to hear, Chris. Have you talked to customer service there yet? You never know, if you send it back to them they might cover it and get you a new one.

Yeah I just got off the phone with them and they said I need to send pics of what happened and they said they are pretty good at covering parts after the warr runs out if if looks Like a defect so now I have to have it pulled and pictures emailed to them so they can decide what happened so I guess we will see. Thanks

i hope they take care of you...
take a look at ur TO and Pilot bearing / bushing for failure. its almost more likely to be a TO failure than pressure plate.

Yeah the throw out bearing is most likely the problem but still wouldn't bend the fins for the pressure plate makes me believe the pressure plate was defective

mayb sinc u were in gear n herd the screach the PP damage was becuz clutch was under load, in gear. all that stress has to go somewher once the TO fails.

im thinkin that if you can prove it was a TO failure the dealer should help you out

I just had the same problem. I had an Ironman clutch put in when i got my twin turbo installed. It's been a little over a year since it's been in and all of a sudden i have a loud squealing when i push the clutch pedal in. I was told they put a new TO bearing in when they put the clutch in. It also had the burning clutch smell. The clutch still engages fine but squeals when i push the clutch in. Talked to a few people and all of think it's he TO bearing. I am taking it in next Tuesday to have it checked out and fixed.
Not looking forward to that bill!
