actually they look nothing alike. besides have 4 wheels. essence front arches are flared hard in to the hood like current infinitis, mazda not really. mazda lower sill lines flow from front to side doors, essence no. mazda front is more snouty with the protruding upper lip, essence is that gay round front on new infinitis. essence has soft headlights, mazda aggressive. and they're the opposite for tails. c pillar kicks out like the g35 coupe on the mazda, swoopy lines on the essence almost like the new 370 lights. um i can keep going but im lazy.

 

^The general shape is extremely similar though.

A lot of the details are different, as you mentioned, but it's almost like Mazda just took the essence, and changed up a bunch of the little details to make it "theirs"
Or maybe they just took a essence and an Aston and went for somewhere in the middle

 

Um ok. So thats one person who disagrees. Looks similar to me.
