December 2010 discussion thread !!!
Hmm... garage stuff, eh Ashley? One of my springs busted 2 weeks ago and I had it and the drums replaced. Now the actual opener is starting to sound funny. Don't know what make & model it is, but what would you recommend for a wooden garage door? I'm interested in long-life, great warranty & quiet operation.

The only wood doors that are worth a crap are very expensive and you almost never see them. (Plus with windload regulations, it's hard to even get them anymore. But IDK what windload regulations are in CA)
What brand is your opener? If it's liftmaster, chamberlain or craftsman, there's a plastic gear inside that may be going out. http://www.cornellgaragedoors.com/bl...r-sprocket.jpg
What I would recommend for a kick-butt opener is one of these: http://www.liftmaster.com/consumerwe...px?modelId=838
if you had a lighter, newer, steel door, these are nice: http://www.liftmaster.com/consumerwe...px?modelId=834
You really can't go wrong with either one. That's the nicest residential motor we install.
