today while in the computer lab i hit my knee in just the right place to hurt the nerve behind my knee cap. Immediately after, i struggle to not throw up... then i black out and fight to keep myself conscious... inform someone that works there that im about to pass out... they try to keep me conscious but my eyes black out and im dizzy and nauseous as hell. Go to the health center and the doc tells me that hitting nerves like that causes "vagal" which is like.. the bodies anti-adrenaline and that its a parasympathetic response to the injury... he makes me sit in a recliner and relax for 30 min while drinking 2 powerades. Then i go to microbial and take a test while still shaky and feeling like crap.... only me...

whole ordeal lasted 2 hours... and i still feel very fatigued and not quite myself.. got some powerade and relaxation to help me out tonight...
you said vag lulz.

Would you happen to be talking about Microbial Metabolism with Dr.Self?
If so, let me know. I have a bunch of study guides that I made up from when I took his course.

The material was interesting but I found the actual class to be boring as hell.
I might still have the study guide I made for the final. I took the class fall of 09 I think. What other classes are you taking?

If you don't like microbe stuff then his class is not interesting at all. I find the microbe stuff really cool so I enjoyed his course. I liked QBM too. The lab reports were annoying as hell but I thought it was a cool course. Molec 2 is lecture is incredibly boring. I like the molecular biology stuff so I found the material interesting but he is not a good lecturer.
Based on your interest in the human body I'm assuming you want to go to medical school?
Yes, I graduated M&M in May 2010.

QBM is interesting. have our 3rd test this monday. Hate the lab reports because grading is so inconsistant, seems like im ALWAYS missing a ton of material even when i include everything that i know lol.

I do not attend the molec lectures, but i do enjoy studying the pathways in which dna is replicated, repaired, terminated etc.

I am actually trying to get into dental school. I should be graduating in may... but i was not accepted this past application cycle. I am postponing graduation until december so i can continue taking science classes in the fall. I am reapplying for the next application cycle. It sucks cause i have a flat 3.0 (mostly Bs) and i work 30+ hours a week to be able to afford my education expenses... but i did well on my DAT.

did you find the exit exam hard? Im probably going to take that this summer to get it out of the way.

I would sit in molec lectures and be on ESPN.com or XDtalk (the forum I'm on most often) then entire time. The only reason I would attend was for the extra credit quizzes he would give sometimes. NOVA has a program that is a 1 year masters in biomedical technology and if you do well in it you get automatic acceptance into their dental school. My GPA was around a 3.0 also, but my final two years my GPA was much higher and schools do like seeing an upward trend like that. I'm going to be applying for medical school (mainly D.O. since my GPA is low) for admission in 2012. I take my MCAT on Saturday.
Exit exam is very easy. I studied for about 20 minutes before it and I passed with an 80% I believe.

Good luck on your MCAT! Its very nerve wrecking! haha especially that month wait after! just study your *** off the last few days with practice exams (take the whole time doing it to prepare yourself)

My grades stay about the same. Last semester i was applying and interviewing so i got two C's due to all the extra work (biochem and then an easy endocrinology class)

Im afraid im going to get a C in microbial though... other than that, straight Bs yet again. (maybe an A if i kill the last molec test plus my last QBM test)

I am not one who gets nervous about things. I've always gone into tests with the feeling that it is exactly the same as the problems I have been doing at home. I've taken about 10 full length practice tests. I take them in a setting as much like the testing center as possible.
I took a Kaplan course and it definitely helped in my preparation.

Biochem final was the most difficult exam I have ever taken. Literally took all the time to finish.

did you have Dr.K or Igarashi?

Every test i took (i had igarashi) took the ENTIRE time, always 10-15 pages long and it involed writing the whole time! The final was about 30 pages in 3 hours.... HELL! Went out for beer immediately after that final.

And you seem prepared, so dont stress! Youll do fine!

I don't know about y'all but I had an easy time with the MCAT. Scored a 44S.

Then again it's probably because I took it for fun.

I call BS. a 44 for "fun"? Why wouldnt you persue a medical career after a near perfect score?

I didnt take the mcat, only the DAT- got a 19 science and 19 percept ability. overall i was in the 77% percentile.

Well it was also to take it with a friend to help ease her nerves. I did the same for a buddy of mine when he took his LSAT and I scored a 175. Doesn't mean I want to go into Law either.
