I feel bad for what could happen but they need to fix that mess NAO! My favorite statement by the postal rep was something like "in this bad economy and job market we are hesitant to just lay off thousands of employees". Thats brilliant! Considering the other option is to shut the entire postal system down and lay off 650K+ employees. Logic like that leads me to believe that's part of the reason we have this problem to begin with.

A little. We are the only business, by law that has to Pre Fund retirement benefits to the tune of 5.5 billion every year. Since we have been in the red for so long we told congress to not look for the payment cause it won't be there. Our hands are tied by law when it comes to closing under performing offices and laying off people associated with the unions involvement so it's only a matter of time before you go broke. They are banking on 5 Day delivery and attrition to ease the financial burden. There are a bunch of uneasy employees here.I am safe only cause I have 15 years and they are looking at 6 years and under for possible lay off. I can give you 80k reasons why I need this job. I'm sure it will get worse before it gets better. We just lost to much volume in 1st class letters , which is where we make most of our profit. To many emails.....
