how is it 2/3? they have tv's, desktops, laptops, ipods, speakers, and a large amount of other products. i understand more people buy ipads and iphones but still they aren't sitting around trying to beat android software. apple could probably care less. they know people will buy the product no matter what. and i don't think its a waste of money. my phone was $200 and i have had 0 issues since i've bought it and never had any with the other iphone i had. but i always here people having issues with android operating system

a quote from their 3rd quarter earnings. of course profits are different but they sell 3x as many iphones/ipads as macs/ipods.
apple is an awesome marketing machine. they make simple, handicapped phones that appeal to the masses. props to them on that. but the only product i own from them is a shuffle. what kills me are all the people that claim companies try to copy them as if they ever came up with their own ideas lol.
Apple sold 20.24 million iPhones in the quarter, a new record. The Street had been hoping to see sales around 16.5 million. The iPad numbers were just as bright, with 9.25 million units being sold. Wall Street had been looking for 7.8 million there. The iPad sales were also basically double what they were last quarter.
One slight dim spot were Mac sales, which came in at 3.95 million, blow the roughly 4.2 million Wall Street was hoping for. And, as expected, iPod sales continue to fall. Apple sold 7.54 million for the quarter, which was down 20 percent year-over-year.

...wait, no...
I am not happy with Motorola's new operating system update for my Droid X... it froze my phone which is why I was using my old Droid this weekend at the meet. It's working fine now, I'm assuming they made a patch for it. For some reason now my swype sucks a$s. I messed with all the settings and set my speed vs. accuracy for high error tolerance, to no avail. After using my droid all weekend i miss having the keyboard.
Swiftkey > Swipe (will ever be)
A buddy of mine had plenty of problems with his iPhone.
He still liked it and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but wasn't going to pretend like it was faultless.
The very lack of an ability to change a battery out is a flaw. The average Lithium Ion battery starts losing capacity after 300 charges. If you charge your phone every day, that's less than a year.
With a iPhone, when the battery starts going to crap, you're either stuck with it, or you have to buy a new phone. With any reasonable phone that you can change the batteries out in, you're out $5-10.
I have two batteries just for the sake if I want to get up and take my phone off the charger at 7:30 AM, use it hard all day, and still be going strong at 2AM, I can.

I bought my iMac back in 06. It's a dinosaur now. My next toy will have to be a macbook. 29 yrs old, and I've never owned a laptop, lol

You have to kinda dumb it down at first, make it simple for it to be appreciated. That's not to say that people who don't want to be bothered with too many options in the operating system or software are dumb or stupid. But just different.
Hardware vs Software. Music vs Visual. Math vs Literature. Art vs Science. Peanut Butter vs Jelly.
Two sides of the same coin.
Ok, I'm done with the soap box.

But he's said he's so much trouble with his Droid phone that he's actually considering getting an iPhone. Almost blasphemy!
