Apology Owed to SFL…
Apology Owed to SFL…
Yesterday I received a Private Message titled “Miami Bashing”. It wasn’t any where near as bad as one might think but the title alone kind of got me thinking…
Lately I’ve been giving the SFL people a hard time for not following suit with the Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville people and joining the FGC. I’ll explain my reasons for giving everyone a hard time later, but for the time being I’d like to apologize if I’ve offended any of you in SFL.
You are all free spirits and are all capable of making your own decisions and I should not view you any differently if you choose not to participate in what we’re doing with this “All Florida Club”. Although it’s my goal to have a big Florida G35 Car Club, I’m not going to attract people to the club by singling out specific areas and giving them a hard time, so for this I’d like to apologize.
Now, let me try to explain why I want the “Miami area” population to get involved with what we’re doing… Check this link out, Florida Infiniti Dealership Listings. It shows the 13 Infiniti Dealerships in the state of Florida and where they are located.
Considering Port St. Lucie to Kendal as SFL, Sarasota to Daytona (incl. Ocala) as CFL, and Silver Springs to Tallahassee as NFL I’ll break down the Infiniti Dealerships accordingly;
SFL Dealerships: 6
CFL Dealerships: 5
NFL Dealerships: 2
For comparison purposes let’s apply a percentage to dealerships is as follows;
SFL = 46%, CFL = 38%, NFL = 15%
Now breaking down the club membership distribution accordingly (albeit 2 people have not included their addresses and have been omitted from the 41 members) the spread looks like;
SFL = 12 members – 31% < 46%
CFL = 20 members – 51% > 38%
NFL = 7 members – 18% > 15%
These numbers put the SFL percentages below where I would hope they would be based upon the amount of Infiniti Dealerships in the area.
This and this alone is the reason why I’ve been trying so hard to get more “Miami” people involved in the FGC. It’s not that I have anything against SFL or people in Miami, it’s just that I was initially told that G35’s are EVERYWHERE in Miami and actually figured that the SFL people would make up the majority of this club.
Again, if I’ve offended anyone with the way I've presented my passions for making the FGC a successful car club I’m sorry. That is not my intention and the “Miami Bashing” title in the PM that I received led me to believe that others might have misunderstood my intentions in the past. Hopefully things are cleared up well enough now and FGC membership will keep growing as well as it has in the past few weeks. If there is anything that this club can do to get more people from SFL to participate, I'm all ears (and if you've ever seen me you'll know that is the painful truth!
)
Thanks for reading.

No, you do have a point, everyone and their mother drives a G here. SFL is underrepresented. If anything, we need a little support from the rest of you FGC guys. What I can't accept is that 3 of us here most actively involved don't even have the car yet.
SFL Meet
Just to add insult to injury, there was a meet today at Markham Park in Broward County. Only myself (the new guy), and one other member showed up!

finiti could not have put it any better. as one of those three, i am so disappointed in sf people. i hate to see people like neff moving mountains to make this club work, and yet... sf people are too good for the fgc. shame on you guys....
STOP IT NOW! If you guys and girls keep ragging on the SFL people they are not going to want to hang out with you! Geesh. It was a MAJOR FOOTBALL DAY! The second largest football day of the year by many peoples standards.
The solution to the SFL meets is simple... Schedule a meet, do not let the meet get side tracked, changed, altered or moved. Show up if you want and have a good time. Bring a camera and take a bunch of photos. Come back onto G35driver FGC Forum and post those photos. People will slowly start coming out. Hold these meets every week or two and after one year you'll have a regular weekly group that get together and have a good time.
No more SFL bashing, please. If you guys were as hard on me I'd have quit showing up to meets a long time ago.
