need some help on how to proceed...
started g up sunday and got the dreaded lifter clak... stopped engine and checked dipstick and oil didnt even reach first mark... last week while swapping headlight bulbs with Sean i told him how i noticed my engine was real dirty near drain plug and noticed i didnt have a crush washer... last 3 oil changes were done by Universal Nissan most recent was in January(i only drive about 15mi round trip to work)... soo, what can I do?
no oil light and no check engine light, car starts right up and no smoke, no noticeable leak other than around drain plug.
should i add oil and take it back to universal?

But I did just recently run my dad's suburban out (wasn't my fault, it had an oil issue he failed to check on or warn me about before loaning the vehicle for a road trip /facepalm)
It started tapping all of a sudden on the highway, I hit the very first exit, first station, and no oil on the dipstick, oil pressure flat 0.
Added 4 qt and it tapped for a couple minutes and then stopped and went back to normal.
I also got an oil additive (IDK if snake-oil, don't care)
It's been fine so far, but then again, it's just a pushrod iron engine... not nearly the tight clearances and delicacy of the VQ :/

I have no idea on the VQ. Never run one out of oil...
But I did just recently run my dad's suburban out (wasn't my fault, it had an oil issue he failed to check on or warn me about before loaning the vehicle for a road trip /facepalm)
