Daniel-Most of my driving is highway miles so I guess that helps without all the stop and go.
Wes-The research I've done shows their both 400 rated, why?
smokedhen- When you say PS 2, are you referring to the Pilot Sport A/S? If you are the A/S is all season the regular Sports aren't. Both have the same ratings.

It depends on how you drive. If you're a speed limit person, which of course we all know you are , your tires will last longer than in city traffic. The friction between the road surface and the tires causes tirewear, so if you like to drive it like you stole it, the heat will cause your tires to wear prematurely. What happens is that Z-rated tires are made to withstand higher heat... Also you can't cross compare treadwear between brands. If my Potenzas are rated at 140 and the Pilot Sports are 220, that doesn't mean mine will have only 2/3 of the treadlife of the Pilots.

But to answer your question, there are 3 types of Pilot Sports, the regular summer ones that come on the G, the PS2s and the A/S. The A/S's are the only ones rated at 400, the other 2 are 220. The PS2s are supposedly F1-inspired and the best high performance tire by Michelin, they use some fancy name for the compound that I don't remember. I've driven my friend's Maxima with Sport Pilot A/S up in Palm Beach in heavy rain and the wet traction is GREAT. I've never driven a G with the Pilot Sports in the rain, but I hear from everyone they're pretty sucky. Just something to consider as well.

PS2's you cannot drive in the rain. They come on the Porsche Carrera GT3 as standard equipment.

are there any other michelin pilot sport ps2 experiences out there? i was thinking of putting them on my car, and tire rack has a pretty good price on them. $178.00 each for the size i am interested in. but i would like to hear from some folks who have actually had experience with these tires. since it appears neffster says you can't drive them in the rain.....???

thanks

Sorry, I got the PS2's mistaken with the Pilot Cup Sport tires. Big difference between the two, so ignore my comments 2 posts above.
