i was just asking if you were goin to send it to someone or if you found someone down there to test it. yes i already have one, so i really dont need it. i was just sayin that if you wanted to you could send it to me and i could test it, since i wouldnt have to wire it up. i think kevin might like to have someone else test it though. i would say to send it to drsifu1 that way its another car and another opinion.

Installation is fairly easy, and should take around an hour to install.

There are only four wires that need to be hooked up:

Ground
Switched Ignition 12VDC
VDC Switch (-) (for programming)
Tach Input (there are roughly 12 wires at the ECU that will work - crank position, cam position, fuel injector, ignition coil -ANY signal that pulses X amount of times per revolution)

The final part is mounting the LED, which is where we really need feedback. Although we feel that the A-pillar is the best mounting location I know that someone will come up with a adequate place to mount the LED that doesn't require drilling.

How is this different from the Rev light in the 2005 6mt G35?

 

Its pretty much the same, but higher visability and designed for racing applications. The LED mounts at eye level in the A pillar and is visable in your periphial vision, meaning you can see it without taking your eyes off of the road!

 

drsifu1 told me he wasn't going to be able to install it for a while so I never sent it to him and no one else asked for it so I still have it. I will install it next week when I get my car back.

 

I used to race quite a bit (many years ago) and I used a large mechanical tach so that I could follow the revs and see when to shift.

Have you ever thought of making a little bracket and adding a sequence of lights (LEDs) that display progressively until the shift point is reached? Something like yellow, yellow, organge, orange, red, red. It could still be quite small... something not objectionable for a street car...

Just a thought...

 

We have considered a seqential shift light, but our main objective is for it to be stealth, and integrate with the car flawlessly. We are not trying to make big, hideous lights. Also, the lower LEDs are not technically functional, as you really only need to know when to shift, so why bother having them? Maybe if you autocross a lot then a sequential setup would be useful, but for everyday use one LED is all that is needed!

 

It's kind of like the lights on the Christmas Tree... You can cut a better light when there are a few yellow bulbs before the green... hence you could shift more accurately with a little (yellow) warning...

Not trying to start an argument with you... just thought it might be something worthwhile that would differentiate your product.
