275GTB vs G35

Sometimes I think we lack perspective on cars, history, etc. Take a look at the following info (yes, its all ballpark/magazine info, but close enough for grins):

1964 275 GTB 2005G35
Engine: 3.3L SOHC 3.5L DOHC
Wt: 2425 3512
Hp: 280bhp@7600 298@6400
Torque: 188@5500 260@4800
0-60 6.3 sec 6.0 sec
¼ time: 14.3 sec 14.5 sec
top speed: 153 155

40 years of development, and we get to drive a "supercar" to the grocery!
The G35 is a terrific vehicle, can't wait (mine is due next Saturday...)

A decent driver will drop those 1/4 mile times for sure. Ryan (young kid) ran a 14.3 bone stock. If he can do it, anyone can.

hehe! The point was that 30 years ago you had to be freakin rich to drive a GTB around. It was damn near a full-bred race car. Now, we drive cars equal to the GTB daily to the grocery store. <grin>

I think someone is just jealous because he ran a 14.2 with many mods.

Ha, interesting way to look at it. I wonder if our G35 will be equivilant to a barebones car in the future

Madchef,

My thoughts exactly. I also wonder about driving skills. It seems to me that cars get faster but driving skills don't change much. From what I see, driving skills may be getting worse. VDC can only do so much. Can you imagine roads full of 300hp cars w/o VDC???

Nonetheless, we are blessed with a great car!
