John Oliva - What was the conclusion?

Oh great one who is known as 'LokeyInfiniti'...

When you get a chance would you please read thru this thread? I was wondering if you ever re-dynoed your SAFC-II to see if the stock ECU reset itself back to work within a nominal range and over rode the SAFC-II... https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...d=1#post653778. Thank you kind sir.

Very curious to see if the timing advance holds or not. . .

And

I would also like to know if timing is automatically retarded via the ECU when temps rise to a certain threshold. So called summer mode.

Thanks John!

hey neff,
is that prob you were having, common w/ the crawford headers, due to the car running lean???
I was thinking bout having the timing advance to 17, but whats the point if its just gonna go back to 15.

I don't think it's a lean/rich problem. I think it's a back pressure/flow problem. The Crawford headers flow so much better that the car tries to find the right idle speed to produce a certain back pressure or flow characteristic (the ECU thinks the car is idling too fast) and then drops the rpm's down too low for about 1-2 seconds.

Fortunately the car has never stalled, so it really isn't a problem (but my pathetic head unit #2, and the darn drivers door rattling are problems).

<slight bump>

Interesting... I remember the Good old Days when I'd just turn the idle screw to set the idle a bit higher and turn the distributor a bit to change the timing...

He is still around. Just very, very busy.

Lokey did some service for me today and put on a GReddy air diversion panel. As always A+ work! Nice wheel display in the lobby too.

I'm still here, everyone. As Tony mentioned, I've just been very busy. I've tried to stop by here every now and then, and always get pulled away before I can post.

So... what happened with your SAFC-II? Did you ever re-dyno?
