Mirror Installation - Need "Inside Mirror Finisher"

I don't have the Premium Package, but want the Premium mirror with the HomeLink setup and auto-dimming, so...

I purchased a HomeLink mirror that came from a 2005 G35 on eBay.

I'm looking for the Inside Mirror Finisher that connects the premium mirror to the headliner and hides the wires. It looks spring loaded and should just pop right in after changing the mirrors.

Where is the best place to get an Inside Mirror Finisher?

Can I just walk up to a sales counter at Lokey and buy one?

In case you're wondering why I don't just have Lokey install it... I did talk to a service guy (not John Oliva) and a mechanic at Lokey about them installing a Premium mirror in my G. They said they could not install one because my (non-Premium) G does not have the correct wiring harness for it. Fair enough...

Between My350z.com and the service manual, I think I have figured out how to wire up the mirror. I'll probably wire my Valentine radar detector at the same time, since they share several connections and I'll only have to crunch down under the dash one time... of course I may still wimp out and take it to a stereo shop to run the wires...

.

Good call, Daniel... I was obviously making this too hard!

$14.74 at Lokey and it will be here in two or three days...

That's a great mod. How about doing a writeup on how to to this mod, especially focusing on the electrical connections, for those that might want to do the same thing?

I recently looked into this mod for another member, and we CAN do it. You probably spoke to a technician that wasn't involved in this conversation a few days ago, so you got the expected reply of the wiring harness incompatability. This is because the technicians know that there is not a plug available for this mirror, and typically do not get involved in wiring customization.

Indeed, this can be done by installing a custom addition to the body harness. Keep in mind when inquiring about "special" things like this to come straight to me, because a lot of this new stuff is out of the ordinary for technicians who are used to solely servicing factory-installed options. The development of our Performance Division has been partially consisted of promoting "out of the box" thinking in our Service Department, and this is an everyday process.

Again, sorry for the confusion and I am glad that your project is coming along nicely.

Take care,

<screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech> Change of plans...

I just talked to John Oliva and Lokey is going to do the install for me. That's what I wanted to do in the first place.
