What Oil?

Hey Guys, I was wondering... I have to change my oil soon, and was thinking I go to 5w30 instead of 10w30 since the weather is a little colder. I know it's not that cold, but maybe it's a little better for the car seeing as how in next 2 months temps are likely to drop lower?

I suggest u use Amsoil or Mobil 1 for the oil. For the Filter Mobil 1. ITs totally up to U.

I dont think the Temp. drop in FL warrants changing from 5W30 to 10W30 i would just keep the recommended oil in. However i dont know anything about cars or oil so do what you want.

I have been using Mobil 1 5w30 since day one but changed to 10w30 from recommendation from some people for last summer spring and fall during the hot temp's, I don't see any difference, but was just curious to see what everyone else is running.

Oil........whatca usin

Royal Purple is my choice of oil in 10/30 wt. Great oil and it micro polishs
all inter surfaces. Interval in my G is every 2,000 miles with filter change.
Cost to me doesn't mean $hit when I know my rides happy!
And.........I use K&N filters.

No need to change for the temp difference. Cold weather here is not that cold as it is up north.

I recommend Royal Purple or Mobil 1 synthetic oil. They can be bought at most Pep boys and Advance auto parts. I've hard Amsoil and Redline is good too, but they're really expensive and have to be mail ordered unless you find a place that uses/has it.

Is it my or did he just contradict himself. Since I change my oil about every 2k miles I just use Castrol Syntec with 15w50(summer) and 10w40. I was using Mobil 1 but I didn't want to waste the money because of my short change interval. I'm actually good riding buddies(motorcycles) with a guy that does radioactive wear tests for diesel manufacturers and other long haul companies and he says the differenences in synthetics only show up after 5k miles. They all use close to the same stock for base and it's just additives beyond that. FYI he also says a dyno 20w50 will outperform a good synthetic 5w-30 in the wear department. You will lose power but your bearings, pistons and valves will last longer. The new Mobil EP or whatever they call their synthetic actually has a bad reputation for foaming in extreme conditions(FI, tight tolerances, etc).

Dude...Alan....it takes me 5 minutes to read your posts as I just stare at the badger getting poked with a spoon thing. Am I the only one???

And yes...I did catch that contradiction. That is when I stopped reading that post.

If you've been around cars and bikes as long as I have, in one place, you pretty much get to meet everyone. Doesn't the old saying go, "It's not what you know, it's who you know." Ask Jeremy how many of the guys racing in the Import drag racing series have been around for a long time. Buschur, "Maz", Nero at Titan, Jesus R(first every 1000whp street Supra), etc. Jeremy and I were the first ever d16 96-99 era civics with nos(my EX was faster than his HX, lol) and I think I have the record for most blown motors in that car(4). They were so cheap I just kept on blowing them up. I can replace that engine in under 2 hours. We've also had some tickets way back when for street racing. It's a small circle where alot of the time stupidity(often because of age) actually gets you respect. I no longer need respect!!!!!
