My night at OSW...

well went to ole spin world tonight to try to get everything together and actually run a good run.

bolted on the mickey thompsons 26X8.5s

first run, took off ok, low 1.8 60' then layed my arm on my nitrous button and turned it off when i hit third gear, i was laughing cause i couldnt figure out why the nitrous didnt kick in for 3rd and 4th

12.66 at 106.6

second run dropped the air pressure down to 8 pounds so i wouldnt spin them in first, (never do that again) i have video of all my runs, i actually almost cross into the other lane from the tires being so low, going 90+ on 8 pounds isnt smart with my setup, it was swaying like crazy after 60 mph, let off and hit the brakes, 12.8 @ 97.7

third and final run, put pressure back to 13 pounds of air, launched good, 1.7 60' spun through first to the rev limiter, i let off the nitrous in first early cause i didnt want to peg the rev limiter, 2nd 3rd and 4th gear fine and ran 12.3 @ 109.6

with the right combo of air pressure and a soon to be added nitrous controller i should be able to hit my goal of 11.9

we will see

Dropping the pressure from 13 to 8 is a large jump. That doesn't mean that dropping a pound or two wouldn't still help. How wide are your wheels?

I used to run between 6 and 6.5 pounds in the rear, depending on track conditions.

Good times! Sounds like you're having fun...

i tried all different pressures, i have tried different ways, i was spinnin 10 pounds, so i figured i would lower it more, i am pretty sure i just didnt heat them up long enough, 12.5 psi and heat the hell outta them is perfect for my 130 shot right outta the hole, i have mickey thompsons 26X8.5 on weld 96 prostars 15X8s

the tires never even look low with 8 pounds in them, but on the video i cross the middle line and head back towards the wall a bit, i just let off the gas and held on with both hands and tried not to over react at all, still scary going 90-100 mph and sliding like that

these things are tricky to figure out, i still only have 10 runs on them, so i am figuring it out for sure....

Sometimes the tires spin on the wheels when you run them real low. That makes the car go not straight and will rip the valve stems out if you run tubes. That might be what happened to you.

Did you screw the tires to the wheel? I used to put about eight stainless steel sheetmetal screws through the ourside edge (lip) of the wheel into the tire.

Sounds like you're having a blast... Keep up the good work!

yeah i dont have enough practice with them to actually figure out all the problems yet, its fun though, i pulled a mid 1.7 60 foot so i might be able to take a 1/10 off there with a better launch, i will try 12.5 my next run, its just such a pain in the *** to drive out there, put the slicks on, and bring someone with me to hold my rims while i run

we should get some more people out there next time with G/Z and hang out...

as far as the video, i have in on a new camcorder, but i think we need to buy the little drive to slide the memory card into to upload it onto the computer...
