Track night tonight

Once again, I'll be going to the track. After last week's mess of only having 3 runs in 4 hours, I said I would not go back for awhile. Well, my friend was able to bring his BMW M coupe up from Sarasota...so I will be running again.

Someone...please come out and hang out!

Well, since no one came out...I guess I will have to post my results myself.

The track sucked once again. I only had 3 runs from 6-10. It seems as if each week, the OSW crew goes slower and slower. It's really getting on my nerves. Oh yeah...and in the staging lanes, they never decided to sweep away all the burnt rubber. From sitting in my car, I could see build up of rubber about 3 inches high. It was ridiculous!

My friend with his '99 M coupe ran a 13.70 @ 100.31 with a 2.064 60'.
I ran a 14.1 @ 98.82 with a 2.095 60'.
Both were new bests for each of us at Bithlo.

nice! yea for all the money they get and the amount of people that attend each time they should be more concern about injuries than trying to take in all the money each time. It was kinda boring when i went 2 runs from 7:30pm until 11:30PM They left the track open late that night. That was the last night before the holiday.

Congrats on the new best time, Ryan. Sorry, I didn't make it out to the track as I felt too tired to do drag racing or even watch.

Truthfully, I think I was too scared of losing to you again that I drove home as fast as I could to save me the shame

i will be out there on friday. i need to lay down a couple (probably all i will get) runs before sunday. if you can... people come out. i need some video if anyone feels like taking it??

sorry no 13s yet man, order a utec and we will get you to 13.7 no problem...

more i learn about these cars the more i understand how the stock ecu works with mods. thats why they are almost pointless unless you can adjust some key values with a ecu or piggyback ecu. utec will be about 900 and the tuner wb will be about 400. you will need it or something similar soon. or find someone with a EManage cough... ZUL8R..cough might have one

Yeah, but who here in Florida actually can tune the utec for our cars??? I'm kinda learly of taking my G to a shop that does Subies...

Anyway, very nice 60' and nice time overall. I'm ready to skip OSW almost permanently and go back to Gainesville. At least the last time I was there I ran like 8 times in my Acura...

Any of you guys ever consider the Technosquare ECU update?

http://www.technosquareinc.com/g35.htm

It looks like several of the fixes it provides would be good things, especially the Drive by Wire Adjustment. I copied the DBW overview from the TS website.

Drive By Wire Adjustment
Throught our testing we found, the drive by wire system was program to never fully open (throttle flap) when you smash the accelerator pedal. In fact, it actually closes the closer you get to the rev limiter, by as much as 20%. This restricts air into the motor and causes HP and torque numbers to go down. We have remapped this setup so when you go wide open throttle, the throttle flap fully opens and STAYS open, increasing HP and torque.
Opening the throttle by another 20% would probably get someone into the 13's or faster...

its a sales pitch, the throttle body opens all the way at 4.8 volts, most cars are 5 volts WOT so they say that they can open it more, if you turn your key on and take off your intake you can see your butterfly open all the way...

Thanks for the info.

That makes me a bit skeptical of TechnoSquare as a company. If they bend the truth like that, how can you trust them?

98 intrigue, I live in Daytona area and am a new owner of 05 g35 6m. Really interested in running at bithlo, just looking for car set up advice, and launching tips. Info from anyone would be great. Car is stock right now with no mods. What quarter time to expect from stock g? Any advice would be great. Really happy with new car. Quite a step up from my old heavily modded supercharged grand prix GTP. thanks.

Hey. My last car was a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue...I hated that car, but we shared the same engine.

Anyways, I ran a 14.33 @ 98.98mpg stock. I launch around 3500 rpms, feathering the clutch...but that's because I have 275s in the rear.

For some suggestions, lower your rear tire PSI to 27ish. Make sure your VDC is off. Once you're heading to the staging lines, spin the tires a bit to get whatever crap off of them (I just drop the clutch around 5000rpm and take it to redline, and then let off). With your 245s in the rear, I'd suggest launching around 2500rpms.

Or instead of running on a crappy track 3 times in 4 hours at Bithlo, you can go to Bradenton Motorsports Park on Sunday, May 7. It's $27 to race from noon-6pm. Only 105 racers are allowed, so we will get many runs in. Myself and SFLG35 are heading out there.
