Look for a Good spot
I am looking for a good place in Tampa area to do a road dyno with my laptop. I need at least a half mile stretch of road that isnt too busy.
This is wat I will be using: http://www.autoenginuity.com/products-speedtracer1.html
anyone else that wants to do their car is more than welcome to come out with and road test.

Yeah there is an interface device that connects to the OBDII port. This thing has been a great tool it has paid for itself many times over.
how accurate do you think it is?? how much was it ??
i use an accelerometer to test the forward Gs and that works pretty well but i would like to have something else like that to use

Folks from the lincoln ls owners club used this well before I did and they swear by it. Many of them are scca racers out in Texas.
I had my LS dynoed on a Mustang Dyno and honestly the numbers were higher on the dyno. Supposedly this method has more merrits in regards to revealing the number where the rubber meets the road.
The proprietor of the tool and the applications provides top notch support. I have been trading emails with him since 2004 usually at odd hours of the day/night and I have never had to resend an email in order to get him to answer.
I'd be happy to meet you on the weekend to let you do a comparo so you can decide. This tool also serves as an ODBII scan tool and you ca purchase the OE enhanced codes for even broader diag and testing.

this came from the developer of the tool. I have inquired about a group buy so if any of you ar interested let me know and I will see if we can get something going here.
We have more coverage now the Cipher. Not to mention a full functioning scantool. We are also actually Nissan licensed, so that means we’ll have everything by the end of the year.
There is a group buy in the Nissan forums right now with our stuff so we are getting a ton of sales for this kit.
How accurate—depends on the car more then us. The physics are exact. If you can send me 4 samples per second then they will be about 5% off. The acceleration testing is not sample timing dependant and will be dead-nuts on.
Actually with our Nissan enhanced you can actually see the G sensors built-into your vehicles.

Here is the info on the Group buy price.
The scan tool and OBDII software retail for $249.95
The OE enhanced codes for scantool retail for $99.995
I do not get anything from this. In fact I am paying to snd my scantool back for an upgrade so I can use the Nissan/Infiniti OE codes and I am paying retail.
This tool has been my best buddy for well over two yearss now and the developer/owner of the company provides to of the line support.
Here are the links that you might want to use to review the product.

I have asked if he could stop in for a Q&A sometime so if you all are interested let me know.

As you’ll see it’s got more coverage then they do now. The 96-99 will be sold with a new piece of ahrdware for an addition 100 USD—if they want it.

Its been a while since I've driven around tampa, but if I remember correct if you take Fletcher east past I-75 it eventually turns north after a couple of twisties. Like I said its been a while, but after the twisties its a straight road for few miles with just pastures on either side. Depending on time of day traffic varies because its a 2 lane road, but there have been times where I was the only person in sight.

Yeah, a buddy of mine works at the local nissan dealership here. I'm going to see if he knows anyone there that can rethread it for me. I tried the helix insert, drilled the hole, rethread it with the supplied tap, but couldn't get the insert to go in.
But like you said at some point you have to turn it over to those that REALLY know what they are doing.
