I am so fed up with waiting on these companies to come out with thier kits for the revups. These motors have been out for close to 2 years and still nothing.

Sorry for venting, but it is frustrating.

I can understand your frustration but its a part of the game. When companies change motors mid production like Nissan did its hard for aftermarket companies to keep up. You have to remember that both of those companies make applications for tons of other cars. They put cars on the schedule and have the same R&D time and orders coming in for them so that work needs to be done on them. Since the Z kit release Turbonetics has done the following cars:
Scion Tc
Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V
Lexus IS300
Hummer H3
Dodge Cummins Diesel
Ford PowerStroke Diesel
Ford Mustang (new and old)
RB26DETT motor for the F&F3 Mustang
New Honda Civic
G35
Automatic Scion Tc
Auto G35

and countless other one-off designs. It takes time to fab and R&D each kit and believe me they are as anxious as you to get the Revup motor done. Its being worked on and as soon as they complete R&D it will get done. They are still finishing the H3, Stage 1.5, Stage 2, and Revup motor kits all at the same time. I think everyone would prefer to have a thoroughly researched properly designed kit then to have something half@ss tossed out in the market and have a problem with it.

No thats not what they are saying and its sad you take it that way. Basically we have committed to finishing other cars and we are working as fast as we can to get the Revup motor done. They are working on it. My point of the list of cars is they have finished a lot of systems since one year ago and are still working their @ss off to finish the Revup stuff. Every company makes commitments to other cars. The same could be said for APS finishing the C6 kit before the Extreme Z kit. Except they did less other vehicles then Turbonetics did. YOu have to have a schedule of stuff you are going to do and you can't just turn a blind eye to it whenever you want. Some of those cars they did were at the request of that cars manufacturere (ie: GM and the H3) GM asked them to do it and have it done by a certain day. A company doesn't survive by sitting around. They are constantly comitting to products and producing them as fast as they can while still doing proper R&D. Vortech is no different.

my frustration comes from the assumption that the 350Z/G35 market is a solid market/platform for mods/upgrades/etc, and it would seem that the majority of enthusiasts (mod addicts!!!) buy the 6MT, and all (not sure on the 350Z)the 05 and 06 6MT cars have the revup engine in them. It would seem that it should be somewhat of a priority to capture that eager (we need instant gratification!!!) market.

Actually in the Z market only 05 track Model and 35th Anniversary cars were the Revup motor. In 06 yes all 6MTs are. The holdup isn't so much the fabwork. Thats the easy part. The holdup is they are switching tuning methods. They used to use a reflash and are transitioning to a Unichip Q (new Unichip) for which they need to create a brand new map and dyno and road test the crap out of it to make sure its safe... At the same time they are also doing R&D for Stage 1.5 and Stage 2 since they will both use the Unichip Q as well.

miaplaya,

what are the underhood temps like with the TN turbo kit?

With the turbo up high in the engine, I bet the hood gets mighty hot. Has anyone reported paint problems on their hoods yet? What about other heat related items?

I haven't measured ambient temps under the hood but I have readings from the coolant and oil. Under cruise my water temp is 185-190 (below stock ratings) under full boost its 195-200. Highest I've seen after a lapping session in 105 F outside temps was 205. Thats WELL within stock range. Oil temps are usually in the 210-220 range. Also stock range...
