Later,
Maybe I'm a wuss, but I'd still say to get it installed. Slap and go tuning just doesn't seem to work very well for "most" of the installs I've seen. If you're looking for something reliable in the long run, then save up and have a shop do the work.
For what it's worth, my car is my pride and joy. I just didn't think that possibly missing something and ending up with a blown engine was worth it. Again, just my $.02.

I always did all my FI work on my previous car. The thing I liked about it was that you knew what to do if something messed up. If you get it installed at a shop then most of the time you have no idea whats going on

This is the #1 reason why I HATE taking my car to a shop. If I ever do mess up... I KNOW what I did. If you take your car into a shop... and they forget a step. Or don't wrap up your fuel lines properly with thermal tape... OOPS. Have fun trying to prove it was their fault.

But seriously... if you have the mechanical capacity, know-how, and want to learn. Why Not? The way I see it: you care more about your car than some mechanic, you WILL make sure you do it right. No side-stepping, jb-weld or rubber hose extensions. For all those DIY guys out there... 'that have other means of transportation'... I SAY 'WHY NOT!?'
