I haven't even had a good 100 mile stretch of smooth running with this thing.

The kit is great for what it is. If you have the money to go TT it is worth it but otherwise this is still my pick.

I am so sorry you have had problems. I can tell you that it is not normal.

I decided to take some brake cleaner and spray the belts while the engine was running, and I found out that the chirping sound was coming from the little black idler pulley from stillen for the alternator and ps. I turned off the motor and loosed the bolt that holds the little idler pulley thinking that maybe the bolt was too tight. I started up the car and the chirping sound was gone. I drove it for a day and everything was great. The next day I started up the car and the same belt squeal at startup was there. The next day, I started up the car and the initial belt squeal at startup was NOT THERE. But then it started to squeal for a good 5-10 seconds after the car was running for 30 seconds or so. Now everytime I start the car after it cools down, I am getting the 5-10 second belt squeal AFTER the car has been running for about 10-15 seconds. I have looked at all the belts and it looks like they are tracking fine. I just don't know if which belt would be making that noise. I don't think tht the brake cleaner trick will work on it. I probably need to get some contact spray and see which one goes away.

I hope this narrows it down.

Sounds to me like your idler pulley was too tight and now your main bely needs tightened. I just had to re-tighten mine the other day. It would not squeel at start up but once I drove the car to work and got it warm then went to lunch it would do it for 5 seconds or so. I tightened the main belt (big 6-rib one) about 1/4 turn and it has been gone since.

If you can get under your hood while it is still squeeling you can usually narrow it down quickly.

I sure hope that works for you. You have had some serious bad luck with yours and I really feel bad since I was part of the reason you got it.
