HELP!!! Car is acting funny.

Hey guys-
My check engine sign came on a few days ago so I took it to the Infiniti Dealership and they said my car was running really lean. I have a Vortech Supercharger and ever since I added the Kinetix SSV my rpm has been bouncing. They said because the Kinetix was taking in too much air. What can I do to fix this? I had the car tuned after the SC but did not tune it after the Kinetix. Is that what might be causing this problem? Would a unichip help?

The SSV is a major change and you shoud have had car retuned right away. I wouldn't boost anymore without having it tuned again. Do you have a wideband A/F gauge installed? If so, what is it reading?

yessir... don't have FI myself but from reading up on the ssv / tuning you should have your car retuned... especially since the ssv has such a dramatic change in volume/ vacuum/ f/a mixture. HIGHLY recommend it. right now it's as if your car is running completely untuned.. and even worse, it is tuned to the wrong spec's... retune asap

you answered your own question...get it tuned now that the SSV is installed.

Its reading 16,17 around there. Would a retune make a huge difference?

Your problem is more than likely a vacuum leak . No way....just adding the SSV would make your A/F at idle run that high . The SSV has proven to make cars run richer because of less or altered air flow . Something didnt get sealed right and its sucking in unmetered air . Check all the bolts for it , vacuum lines , and any thing else that would cause a leak

That is at idle. The dealer said that the kinetix might be warped but who knows. I'm gonna get a tune and see what happens. Thanks for all the help!

Dont even bother trying to tune it with a vacuum leak . Find the leak first . The Dealer maybe right , or you just plain didnt get it sealed up right . Do that first before a tune . DOnt waist your money

This is so far beyond the ideal AFR, I'm not surprised you are running into issues.

Yes a retune will make a world of difference. Yes you should look into engine management. Also, I'm assuming that your injectors are properly sized to your current setup, if not that needs to get addressed also.

You need to talk to a good shop in your area.

Again...dont waist your money on any thing , until you find and fix the vacuum leak on or around that new plenum

So, I should remove the kinetix to see if is warped or to see if the install was done incorrectly. If there are no problems w/ it, then get it retuned, get engine management and larger injectors?

You have to find out what is causing this problem first . Take it to a shop if you dont think you can find the problem . I can assure you ....you have a vacuum leak or something else causing the lean condition at idle . Thats why the CEL light came on . It isnt because you need to get tuned just because you added the plenum .
