Re: Blowoff valve
blowoff valves, to my knowledge, are only used on fi cars. I believe they are used to relieve the pressure built up in the turbo/supercharger. To answer your question, yes, we can a blowoff valve in our cars only if we have fi. IMO i do not think it is ricey at all.
Re: Blowoff valve
It's not rice if you install it for actual use. That other thread is for an imitation blowoff valve. It's just a speaker that makes the sound.

Re: Blowoff valve
A blow-off valve will do nothing for you if you aren't running forced induction. If the opinion and knowledge of the people here aren't enough, here's a quote from GReddy (from the FAQ section of the site):
Can a blow off valve work on a non-turbo car? Blow off valves would not do anything on a normally aspirated vehicle (non-turbo or non-supercharged vehicle). The purpose of a blow off valve is to release the built up boost pressure in the charge piping, when the throttle plate is closed and the car is under boost. So if you do not have a turbo or supercharger there will be no pressure to be released and nothing will happen.
