According to Sharif, JWT TT is good enough for stock motor. You can always upgrade to bigger snails and built the internals.

if you have to go turbo, then my suggestion would be to not go turbo until you have the funds saved up for incase something happens.

Most of the turbo kits including Greddy, APS, JWT, Power Enterprises, and Turbonetics are designed to go on a stock motor running 8PSI or less. Of course all of these kits have lots more capability with upgrades (build the engine and run higher boost).

I'm like you... I want to go FI, but I don't have a lot of money right now. However, after doing a lot of research and talking to several people, I have decided to wait until I can afford the engine build.

I've heard and read repeatedly from different sources that you shouldn't run more than 8PSI and/or over 400whp on a stock motor. The factory rods are supposedly a weak link in the VQ motor when you add boost. Even if you don't want to do a full engine build (long block), at least do the short block (pistons & rods) to beef up the bottom end. I think the extra few grand to build the short block is worth the peace of mind when you're already investing several thousand dollars to install a turbo kit.

I think you would be fine with a Greddy kit. Just make sure you get a GOOD tune and don't run more than 5-6 psi until you build your motor. These kits are safe on stock motors but, it all comes down to the tune in the end.

I would say you could prob get a used tt kit for under 5,500 And install and tune will run you around 1,500.

Actually, you can get a new Greddy kit from SGP for $5,875 according to their website. It says the price includes shipping within the continental US and the intercooler.

The kits with intercoolers are about $5900, and install runs about $2300. Most people with add a return fuel system, bov, a UTEC and a retune. Figure about $11,000 without gauges or exhaust.

Darn it Sharif, after talking to you today you got me thinking of going TT again. I guess that might be an expensive phone call!
